Every 2 years, the Gettinger family gets together for a weekend-long family reunion. And, I won't make you read the geneology of my family or why the generation before mine started this tradition, but I do need to tell you that this isn't your standard family reunion where people flit in for a few minutes, only to forget about it until obligated to go again. No ... this family reunion is different. It truly is like the quote I shared above ... it's about finding roots, learning your roots and, in the same strange way, finding your wings at the same time regardless of what generation you fit within. Sure ... we eat baked beans and the plastic forks break, but there is a spirit and a connection that is electric among the generations. I pray that some day that all of my family and friends - and especially my boys - find this same electricity. There is nothing more important, as John and Ted shared.
